About

Experienced. Honest. Practical.

Dr. Saasha Sutera is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and holds a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Connecticut. She completed her clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living, conducting evaluations and consultations and providing therapeutic services for children and adolescents.

In addition to managing Integrative Psychology, Dr. Sutera holds privileges at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT, where she conducts psychological assessments for patients and provides consultation to the medical staff.

For nearly two decades, Dr. Sutera has provided clinical services to children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings, including therapeutic schools, “Birth to Three” programs, community mental health clinics, and medical and psychiatric hospitals.

Dr. Sutera takes a holistic approach to both psychoeducational assessment and therapy. Whether her clients are struggling with ADHD, a learning disability, or emotional concerns, she places a strong emphasis on all factors that may influence them. It is through looking at their environments and unique developmental history that she is able to develop a thorough understanding of the person in order to help them succeed.

She also places a strong emphasis on family involvement, which is crucial to a child or adolescent’s development.

Dr. Sutera has published research articles about early screening and diagnosis of autism, and she was part of the research team that validated the M-CHAT, a screening tool recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics that is designed to help pediatricians and primary care providers with the early identification of autism. She also co-authored a chapter in the book, Genes, Brain, and Development: The Neurocognition of Genetic Disorders. She has presented at the International Neuropsychological Society meeting and the International Meeting for Autism Research.

Dr. Sutera’s interest in learning about people, warm disposition, and ability to build trust easily with her clients coupled with her experience in assessment and interventions allow her to focus on truly understanding each individual. Her strengths-based, evidence-informed approach enables her to devise practical recommendations that individuals, families, providers, and educators can implement.
